Project 05
mPulse design system
A shared visual and interaction language for a complex web-performance analytics product.
The challenge
Years of rapid development had left mPulse with inconsistent components, competing visual styles, and growing design and technical debt. Following Akamai’s acquisition of SOASTA, the product also needed to align with a new brand while remaining accessible and effective for data-heavy workflows.
The approach
I helped lead an audit of the existing product and worked closely with designers, engineers, product managers, and data scientists to create a scalable component system. I rebuilt the library in Figma using atomic design principles and incorporated accessible typography, contrast, and data-visualization standards.
The result
The design system made it faster to create, prototype, and ship new features while improving consistency throughout the product. It gave mPulse a sustainable foundation that could evolve with Akamai’s brand and support increasingly complex analytics workflows.
